Vitamin + Mineral Breakdown (FEDIAF Guidelines)

We’ll often talk about our puppy food being ‘FEDIAF compliant.’ But what does that actually mean? In a nutshell, FEDIAF sets out nutritional guidelines for puppy food. These state the minimum and maximum acceptable amounts of vitamins and minerals that your puppy needs to be healthy and happy. Our complete raw meals have been developed by qualified nutritionists, and fall in the upper end of these amounts. Because we think bare minimum just isn’t good enough for our puppies.

The table below shows what the FEDIAF minimum and maximums are, and how much of each vitamin and mineral you’ll find in our meals:

Storage

When your box arrives, the 500g tubs of puppy food will still be frozen ready to be put away. To defrost, leave one meal in the bottom drawer of your fridge for 24 hours before your puppy is ready to dig in.

When feeding your puppy a raw food diet, it’s important that you adhere to the same hygiene practices as you would when preparing food for anyone else in your family, thoroughly cleaning any surfaces, utensils and your dog’s bowl after each use.

Our packaging is sustainable and 100% recyclable. We’ll also send you a handy reusable storage container to put any defrosted, uneaten puppy food in once you’ve opened the recyclable tub.

How It Works

We’ve made it as easy as possible for you to feed your puppy a healthy, delicious diet that they’ll love every day. We carefully pack our boxes with ice packs to keep their puppy food frozen until you’re ready to defrost it at home.

We know that life, especially life with pets, isn’t always predictable. That’s why our raw puppy food subscription is flexible so you’re always in control. This also means that your pup is eating the freshest food possible, it doesn’t sit in storage for months before being sent out.

To get started, tell us about your puppy, their age and weight and more. Then, we’ll recommend the perfect food for them, as well as suggesting a variety of flavours and proteins to keep meal times exciting. If your puppy has any sensitivities or allergies then you can omit these from their menu too.

Choose a box size that suits your requirements, (we offer 4kg, 8kg, 12kg and 16kg boxes) and we’ll take care of the rest. Our delivery partner, Trunkrs, will deliver the food straight to your door when you need it.

FAQs

Questions about our raw dog food? This is where you’ll find the answers.

What is the best complete raw puppy food?

The best complete raw food for puppies is biologically appropriate (the ingredients mimic what dogs in the wild eat), nutritionally complete and balanced, protein-dense, and contains high-quality ingredients. Everything that our raw puppy food is.

What does "complete" mean in raw puppy food?

For raw puppy food, complete means it contains all the essential nutrients that puppies need in the correct ratios. There is no need to supplement your puppy’s meals when feeding our food.

FEDIAF, a European agency representing the pet industry, develops the nutritional guidelines for pet food. And we’re super proud to say our raw food ranges exceed the levels set out by FEDIAF, so you know your puppy is getting the best nutrition.

Do I need to add anything to your puppy food?

All of our puppy food flavours are complete, so there’s no need to supplement your puppy’s meals. However, you may want to do this if you’re supporting a specific health issue, for example.

Do I need to give my puppy any supplements when they're on a raw diet?

Nutrition experts formulate our puppy food so you can relax knowing that all the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals your puppy needs are in their meals, so there’s no need to use supplements. However, you may want to consider supplements if your puppy needs extra support with an ailment.

Is your puppy food grain free?

We don’t add grains to any of our puppy food. Instead, we use high-quality meats, poultry, and fish, ground bone and organ meat (offal), sustainable seasonal veg and blueberries, and healthy fats.

Is Bella+Duke a puppy food subscription?

Yes, our puppy food subscription service means it’s never been easier to choose a raw diet for your pet. Order puppy food online and we’ll make sure you never run out of healthy, natural, nutritious food for your pet. It also means that the food doesn’t sit in storage for months like other ultra-processed foods, and that your pup’s food is always as fresh as possible.

How does your puppy food subscription works?

Our raw puppy food subscription recommends the feeding amount for your puppy based on the details you give us – like their age, breed, weight, activity level. We calculate their daily food amount. Then, you select the flavours in this range that you know will make your pup’s tummy do a happy dance and the delivery size that works best for you.

Managing your subscription is very easy too. From your customer account, you can add other dogs to your account (because the more the merrier), move delivery dates, buy extras like our natural dog treats (at a discounted price!), and so much more.

How much raw puppy food should I feed my puppy?

Each puppy is unique and their food amounts are too. When creating your nutritional plan we’ll work out what your puppy should eat each day using their breed, age, weight and activity level. Our raw puppy food calculator can provide an estimate of feeding amounts.

Can I change the flavours in my next delivery after I signed up?

Yes absolutely. Our subscription is designed to work with you and your puppy, so if your needs change, you can easily amend the flavours (and other things) in your customer account.

Why is your puppy food frozen?

So your puppy gets the best nutritional value possible. We freeze our ingredients at the source to lock in the nutrients. They remain frozen when we mix our complete raw puppy food in our factory. Then, we deliver it frozen to your door. We add ice packs to the boxes to reduce the temperature to -45 °C (which is way colder than typical freezers), ensuring that the meals won’t start thawing.

The only time the food is defrosted is when you defrost it at home to feed your pup.

Is this meal available for adult dogs, too?

Yes, we have a similar raw meal for adult dogs too. Discover our raw duck dog food.

See the benefits of raw dog food for yourself and save on your first three boxes too.

What's On The Menu?

Dogs thrive on variety, so that's why we include a wide range of proteins in our raw dog food.
